What is the Yale World Fellows Program?

It is Yale’s flagship leadership programme. Each year a small, global group of accomplished leaders spends four months in residence at Yale to think, learn, and build their networks. Fellows join seminars, give talks, audit Yale courses, and mentor students.

You do not earn a degree. You come as a leader with a track record, and you leave with a sharper vision and a global network of more than 450 World Fellows across 100 countries.

What the fellowship covers

  • A taxable stipend for your living costs in New Haven
  • A furnished one or two-bedroom apartment for the whole programme
  • Medical insurance
  • Round-trip travel from your home country

Who can apply

  • You are a citizen of a country other than the United States
  • You are five to twenty-five years into your professional career, with real, demonstrated achievement
  • You are fluent in English
  • You can be in residence at Yale for the full four months

Is there an age limit?

No. There is no minimum or maximum age. The real measure is your career stage, five to twenty-five years in, with a strong record. The average fellow is around 39.

Does it accept students?

No. This is for mid-career leaders, not students or academics looking to study. If you are earlier in your path, look at the fully funded master’s and PhD scholarships we post instead.

Required documents

  • A resume or CV, up to three pages
  • A personal statement, up to 600 words
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • A short video statement
  • The US$20 application fee

How to write your application

Show demonstrated impact, not just ambition. Make your record concrete, and connect it to the change you want to lead next. Keep the personal statement within 600 words and make every line earn its place. Choose recommenders who can speak to your leadership, not just your job title.

How to apply, step by step

  1. Create an account in the online application on the Yale World Fellows site.
  2. Upload your CV, personal statement, and video statement.
  3. Request your three letters of recommendation early.
  4. Pay the US$20 application fee and submit before the deadline.

Selection process

Admission is highly competitive, with thousands of applications for a handful of places. Each cohort is balanced across regions and professions. Decisions follow the review of your full application, including the video.

Deadline

2 December 2026, at 14:00 US Eastern Time.

You can work on the application and submit when ready. Line up your recommenders early, since their letters must arrive too. Confirm the deadline on the official Yale World Fellows page before you submit.
