The Reach Oxford Scholarship 2027 is fully funded. It covers your course fees, gives you a grant for living costs, and pays one return flight home each year, for a full undergraduate degree at the University of Oxford. It is built for students from developing countries who could not study for this degree at home.

It is an undergraduate scholarship, for students starting their first year at Oxford. Only two to three are given each year, so it is competitive, but it is real, and it is one of the few that funds a full bachelor’s degree at Oxford for students like you.

What is the Reach Oxford Scholarship?

Oxford created Reach Oxford for students from low-income countries who have the grades to study there but no way to pay for it. Many strong students never get the chance because a full degree abroad costs more than their family could ever raise. This scholarship removes that wall.

It funds your whole undergraduate course, not just one year. You study at one of the world’s top universities, fully paid, and you are expected to bring what you learn back home.

What the scholarship covers

  • Your full course fees for the length of your degree (three or four years)
  • A grant for your living costs each year
  • One return flight between your home country and the UK each year

That covers the three things that stop most students: tuition, daily living, and the cost of getting there and back.

Who can apply

  • You are a citizen of a developing country on the OECD DAC list. Most of West and Central Africa qualifies, including Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, and their neighbours.
  • You could not otherwise afford to study in the UK, and you cannot study for your chosen degree in your own country.
  • You are applying for your first undergraduate degree, starting in the first year.
  • You have the top grades Oxford asks for in your subject.
  • You plan to return home after your studies and use your degree there.

One limit to know: medicine is not covered by this scholarship. Every other eligible Oxford undergraduate course is open to you.

Am I too poor or too far away to have a chance?

This scholarship was made for exactly that student. Financial need is not a weakness in your application here. It is part of who they are looking for. What you need is strong grades and a clear reason you want the course and want to bring it home.

Can I apply with average grades?

Oxford is one of the hardest places in the world to get into, so your grades need to be near the top of your class. This is honest, not discouraging. If you are a strong student, apply. If your grades are still building, look at the many fully funded scholarships we post that ask for less, and keep this one in mind for the future.

Do I need IELTS or TOEFL?

Oxford asks for proof of English for most students whose first language is not English. Check the English requirement for your course early, and book the test in good time so a missing score does not stop your application.

Required steps and documents

  • An Oxford undergraduate application through UCAS, for a course you are eligible for
  • Any admissions test or written work your chosen course requires
  • Your school results and predicted grades
  • Proof of English, if your course asks for it
  • The Reach Oxford scholarship application, once you have applied to Oxford

How to apply, step by step

  1. Choose an eligible Oxford undergraduate course (not medicine) that fits your goals.
  2. Apply to Oxford through UCAS by the Oxford deadline, 15 October 2026, for 2027 entry.
  3. Sit any admissions test and send any written work your course requires.
  4. Apply for the Reach Oxford Scholarship on the official Oxford page before its deadline, 26 January 2027.
  5. Wait for the outcome. Selection happens in April 2027, and you will hear by the end of May 2027.

Do not pick a course just because you think it is easier to get funded. Pick the one you will work hardest at, because Oxford selects on academic strength first.

Deadline

Apply to Oxford through UCAS by 15 October 2026 for 2027 entry. The Reach Oxford scholarship application then closes 26 January 2027.

The 15 October date is the one that catches people out. You must apply to Oxford first, in October, because you need an admission offer before the scholarship. Miss October and you cannot reach the scholarship at all. So start your UCAS application now, and confirm every date on the official Oxford page before you submit.
