The USTC International Winter Camp 2027 runs from 19 December 2026 to 1 January 2027 at the University of Science and Technology of China in Hefei. The programme fee is 3,000 yuan, and the strongest applicants receive the USTC Fellowship, which can cover travel, insurance, accommodation, and a stipend, fully or partly.
It is open to undergraduate and master’s students, and recent graduates, from any country outside China. You spend the camp on Chinese lessons, academic lectures, national lab tours, and cultural visits.

What is the USTC Winter Camp?
USTC is one of China’s leading science universities. Its International Winter Camp gives students from abroad two weeks to experience the university, meet researchers, visit national laboratories, and learn basic Chinese, while exploring options for further study at USTC.
What the camp and fellowship cover
- The 3,000 yuan programme fee covers tuition, a twin room, and field trips
- Insurance and travel are not included in the fee
- Outstanding students can receive the USTC Fellowship, which may cover a travel subsidy, medical insurance, accommodation, and a stipend, fully or partly
So the camp is not automatically free. Apply with a strong profile to give yourself the best chance at the fellowship.

Who can apply

If you have already taken part in a USTC winter or summer camp, you cannot apply again.
Do I need IELTS or TOEFL?
The camp asks for a good command of English but does not name a specific test. Check the application form for what it accepts as proof.

- Open the USTC Winter Camp page and click the online application.
- Register, then go to Start Application, Application, Non-Degree Programs Application, Winter Camp.
- Fill in the form and upload the required documents.
- Submit before the deadline.
Selection process

The camp starts 19 December, so visa planning matters. Apply early and confirm the date on the official USTC page before you submit.
