What is the Nexus Youth Exchange?

It is a short leadership and cultural program that brings young people from many countries to Madrid for four days of sessions, workshops, and networking. The themes cover youth leadership, global citizenship, entrepreneurship, the Sustainable Development Goals, and cross-cultural understanding.

It is an event, not a scholarship or a degree. You get four days in the room, the people you meet, a certificate, and a place in the Nexus alumni network.

What you get (fully funded category)

  • Round-trip airfare
  • Hotel accommodation
  • Daily meals
  • Official visa invitation letter and visa support
  • Airport transfers
  • Full access to all program sessions and activities
  • Certificate of participation

The partially funded category includes all of these except round-trip airfare. Self-funded participants cover their own costs.

Program themes

  • Youth leadership and civic engagement
  • Global citizenship
  • Innovation and entrepreneurship
  • Sustainable Development Goals
  • Cross-cultural understanding and international cooperation

Who can apply

  • You are at least 16 years old.
  • You can be from any country.
  • You are interested in leadership and global engagement.
  • You come from any academic or professional background.

Is there an age limit?

The only age rule is that you must be at least 16. There is no upper age limit.

Do I need IELTS or TOEFL?

No. The organisers do not ask for an English test. Sessions run in English.

What about the fee?

The listing does not print an application fee, though private youth events sometimes add one at the payment step. Before you pay anything, open the official page and check what the fully funded application involves. A visa invitation letter is not a visa, so getting one does not guarantee Spain will approve you.

How to make your application stand out

The fully funded places are competitive, so your reason for attending is what sets you apart. Be specific about what you want from the four days and what you would bring to the group. A short, honest answer beats a long, general one.

How to apply, step by step

  1. Open the official Nexus page and review the categories.
  2. Choose the fully funded category if you need flights and accommodation covered.
  3. Fill in the application with your details and your reason for attending.
  4. Confirm what the application involves before making any payment.
  5. Submit before the deadline.

Selection process

The organisers review applications and select participants for the fully funded and partially funded categories. Selected applicants receive a visa invitation letter and the next steps.

Deadline

30 September 2026.

The event runs 6 to 9 November 2026 in Madrid. The deadline is about two weeks away, so if you want a fully funded seat, apply early.
