EPFL is one of Europe’s top science and engineering universities. Each summer its School of Life Sciences invites a small group of students to join a research lab for eight weeks, learn new techniques, and see what a research career looks like.
Alongside lab work, you get mentoring, seminars, Friday workshops, a closing poster symposium, and social trips, including a day hike in the Swiss Alps.
The program FAQs set out what you need. Read them before you start, since the application form changed this year.
Read the essay topics in the FAQs and draft them before you open the form. Name the labs that interest you and explain why. Keep each answer focused and honest about what you want to learn.
A program committee reviews applications and selects 20 to 25 students. Places are very limited, so a clear, well-prepared application matters.
15 November 2026, 23:59 CET.
The form cannot be saved, so have everything ready before you begin. Confirm the deadline on the official EPFL page.
Drop your question in the comments and we will help. Tell us your country and your field and we will point you in the right direction.
