What is this opportunity?

WIPO uses the prize to make Indigenous creativity more visible and to help young creators learn how copyright can protect their stories, art and cultural expression. A jury shortlists entries before a public vote.

What you get

  • International visibility for shortlisted videos
  • Judging based on message, originality, creativity, visual appeal and community impact
  • A People’s Choice public vote for finalists
  • A chance to share Indigenous culture through your own voice

Who can apply?

  • You meet the age and Indigenous identity rules in the official competition regulations.
  • Your entry follows the year’s theme and technical requirements.
  • Your video is your own work and respects the rights of other people.
  • You provide a translated script when the video uses an Indigenous language outside the listed submission languages.

Do I need a professional camera?

No. WIPO says entries are judged on a technology-neutral basis. A phone video can work if the story, sound and message are clear.

Yes. Include a script translated into Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Portuguese, Russian or Spanish, following the official instructions.

  1. Read the official rules and current theme.
  2. Plan a short story connected to your community and creativity.
  3. Record and edit the video using only material you have the right to use.
  4. Prepare the description and translated script where required.
  5. Submit through WIPO’s online platform before the Geneva time deadline.

Deadline

Entries close on 6 November 2026 at 23:59 Geneva time.
