What is the Silicon Valley Fellowship?

It is a short, intense week in the world’s best-known tech hub. You hear talks from people who run and fund big tech companies, spend time inside companies and universities, and meet mentors, founders, and investors face to face.

The program has more than 350 alumni. Some went on to found companies backed by Y Combinator, and others now work at places like Apple, NASA, and Replit. After the week, you join a private alumni community with job postings, referrals, and a direct line to mentors.

What you get

  • Talks from leaders at major tech companies and top universities
  • Visits to companies and to universities like Stanford
  • Networking with founders, investors, and mentors
  • Access to a private alumni community for jobs and referrals

How the fully funded option works

The Next Gen Fund is what makes this fully funded for the people who need it. It can cover:

  • Your place in the program
  • Return flights to San Francisco (SFO)
  • Accommodation in San Francisco
  • Local transport and program meals

The fund backs exceptional candidates who have been admitted and could not make the trip on their own. You apply to the fellowship first. Once you are accepted, you request support from the fund, and the team looks at your merit and your need. The fund can cover part or all of the costs, and support is decided case by case, so make your application as strong as you can. The organisers say it plainly: if you believe you belong there, apply first.

Who can apply

  • Students and recent graduates planning a move into tech
  • Founders building something new
  • Young professionals who want to grow their network
  • Applicants from any country

How selective is it?

Very. The fellowship gets more than 5,000 applications a year and accepts around 2 percent. That sounds hard, and it is, but the application only takes about five minutes, so it costs you very little to try. Tell them clearly what you are building or want to build.

Do I need a visa?

You need permission to enter the United States. Citizens of Visa Waiver Program countries can travel on ESTA for short stays. Everyone else needs a visitor visa, so start that process early, because US visa appointments can take time. The fellowship does not give a work visa.

Do I need IELTS or TOEFL?

No test is listed. The program runs in English, so you should be comfortable talking and asking questions in English.

Can I apply with average grades?

Yes. This is not a grades contest. The team cares about what you are doing, what you have built or started, and what you want from the week. Real projects and clear goals beat a perfect transcript here.

Required documents

  • The short online application about your background, work, and goals
  • Your CV or LinkedIn profile, if asked
  • Evidence of your achievements if you request the Next Gen Fund
  • A valid passport for travel

How to make your application stand out

Be specific. Name the project you are working on, the problem it solves, and what you want to learn or who you want to meet in San Francisco. If you plan to ask for the Next Gen Fund, show your achievements clearly, since the fund is for exceptional candidates. Short and real beats long and general.

How to apply, step by step

  1. Open the official Silicon Valley Fellowship website and click Apply.
  2. Complete the five-minute application about your background, work, and goals.
  3. If you are accepted, book the short interview call they send you.
  4. After confirmation, request the Next Gen Fund if you need support for the trip.
  5. Prepare your passport and visa or ESTA.
  6. Travel to San Francisco for your batch.

Selection process

Selection is rolling, and most applicants hear back within two weeks. Accepted applicants have a 10-minute interview, then receive confirmation. Next Gen Fund requests are reviewed after admission, on merit and need.

Deadline

Rolling selection. The next batch runs 11 to 15 November 2026.

Opportunities Corners lists 11 October 2026 for this batch, and the official site says the earlier you apply, the more batch options you get. So apply today if you want November, and allow time for your visa.
