KAUST is a graduate research university on the Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia, known for science and engineering. The Microelectronics Winter Camp is a short, funded research program run by its CEMSE division, the part of the university that works on electrical engineering, computer science, and mathematics.
For six weeks you work alongside KAUST faculty and researchers on real microelectronics work: chip design, electronics, and related areas. It is a chance to do research at a well-funded lab, build your skills, and see whether a graduate degree at KAUST could be your next step.
No age limit is stated. What matters is your study level and your field, so if you are a senior undergraduate, a recent graduate, or a master’s student in the right subject, you can apply.
The camp asks for strong English rather than a fixed test score. If you have an IELTS or TOEFL result, include it. If you do not, a clear application and a good interview still carry weight, since the selection includes a faculty interview.
The camp sets a minimum GPA of 3.5 out of 4.0, so this one has a firm grade bar. If your GPA is close, read how your school’s scale converts before you count yourself out, and put your research interest and skills forward clearly. If your GPA is well below the line, we post fully funded programs with softer grade rules every week, so keep an eye on the site.
Selected applicants also sit a faculty interview before a final offer.
Keep your CV clean and let your technical work show: projects, coursework, any lab or coding experience with electronics or chip design. If you have a project you are proud of, name it and say what you did. Faculty are choosing people they will work with for six weeks, so make it easy to see what you bring and what you want to learn.
Applications are screened on your field, your GPA, and your documents. Strong candidates are invited to a faculty interview. Those who pass the interview receive an offer, with the stipend, accommodation, and visa support that come with the camp.
24 September 2026.
This one is close, so if microelectronics is your field, prepare your CV and transcripts now and apply this week. The camp itself runs 4 January to 11 February 2027. Confirm the exact date and time on the official KAUST page before you submit.
Drop your question in the comments and we will help. If you are unsure whether your field counts, tell us your degree and we will let you know.
We post fully funded internships and scholarships like this one every week.
Always confirm requirements and deadlines on the official application page. Do not share documents or sensitive personal information.
